Materials Science and Engineering Innovation Fellowship
The Materials Science and Engineering Innovation Fellowship recognizes and supports high-performing MSE students who have demonstrated outstanding research, scholarship, and innovation in materials research. The Innovation Fellowship provides one graduate student stipend for one year to support an MSE student in their continued research and studies towards the MSE degree.
Eligibility & Scope
Open to Materials Science and Engineering doctoral students who are at least in their third year of study. Prior receipt of an MSE fellowship does not disqualify a student. The fellowship is awarded based on the student's demonstrated research impact and innovative contributions to the field.
To Apply
The application requires input from both the student and the student’s advisor. The Innovation Fellowship template is available here.
- Advisor Section: This includes a summary of the student’s research achievements and innovations, along with the advisor’s recommendation. (Max 2 pages).
- Student Section: Student’s CV and a student statement.
Innovation Fellowship applications should be submitted no later than April 16, 2026. Submit the applications to Heidi Deethardt (deethardt.1@nd.edu).
