Research Interests
The research conducted in Professor Fein's laboratory isolates and studies reactions that control the fate and transport of heavy metals and radionuclides in groundwater and surface water environments. One research area focuses on how engineered nanoparticles can be used as sorbents for water purification, and they use experimental techniques to characterize the nanoparticles and to construct quantitative predictive models of contaminant-nanoparticle adsorption reactions.
He is director of the Center for Environmental Science and Technology at Notre Dame.
